Building a Wellness Routine for Your Immune System: Day 1

Building a wellness routine is not as hard as you think!

There are many ways to build a wellness routine, and you can get as complicated or basic as you would like! For our purposes this week, we are going to start off with some very basic information and over the fall we will continue to build on that. We will add tools to your toolbox over the course of the fall as well!

Today we are going to talk about adding quality essential oils into your daily routine. Day 1’s tip is all about why you should be adding this to your arsenal!

A good quality essential oil will work with your body to support it. It will attack the bad bacteria and help reduce inflammation. This is so important when you are building a wellness routine for your immune system.

This is something you must use daily! You can’t wait until you’re not feeling well to take your vitamins because by then it’s too late. They might help you kick the crud a little faster, but imagine if you had been taking them consistently daily, building up your immunity over time. Your body would already be at attention, ready to fight off intruders quickly. It’s the same concept with using your oils daily.

Our goal here is to be proactive versus reactive. Life is so much easier when you are on the offense!

My favorite way to use essential oils to build my immune system is to make an essential oil roller bottle.

I take a 10 ml roller bottle and add 20-30 drops of Thieves essential oil blend (this is an immune system supporting blend from Young Living and each of the oils in this blend is a powerhouse for kicking the crud to the curb!), and then 10 drops of Oregano essential oil, topped off with a carrier oil like fractionated (liquid) coconut oil. Then I put the lid on the bottle and slowly invert it back and forth to mix. I roll this on the back of my neck so I don’t accidentally touch it somehow and get it in my eyes or nose or something. Haha. (It’s easy to forget!) I also do this with my kiddos because this recipe is heavily diluted which is great for them and then I roll it on the back of their necks as well for the same reason.

The quality of the essential oil matters big time. Many essential oils that are cheap are terrible quality. They might have toxic chemicals added or fillers like coconut oil or even water. You don’t want to use those things on yourself or your kiddos! Only get the best of the best!

This is a daily habit and it helps our family so much!

I recommend rolling this on in the morning and then again at night if you have been exposed to the crud. 

If you have sensitive skin and the back of the neck doesn’t work, you can also roll this on the bottom of your feet! (I would put socks on yourself and/or the kiddos if you use this trick to keep the oil contained.)
